     2026-07-15

Applications are invited for a 1+1-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in statistical physics at the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP). The appointment will initially be for one year and may be extended for an additional year, subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of research funding.

The successful candidate will join the newly established Junior Research Group in Statistical Physics ("Complexity, Dynamics & Disorder Group"), led by Dr. Mathias Casiulis, which will commence its activities in September 2026.

APCTP, founded in 1996, is an international organization dedicated to excellence in research and the training of young scientists in the Asia-Pacific region. The Center provides a stimulating and internationally diverse research environment encompassing a broad range of fields, including particle physics, statistical physics, string theory, condensed matter physics, and cosmology. APCTP also maintains extensive international collaborations and agreements with leading institutions worldwide, facilitating active scientific exchange.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research in theoretical and computational statistical physics within the group and to participate actively in its research activities and collaborations.

ᆞRequired qualification: A PhD in statistical physics, applied mathematics, or a closely related field, obtained by the starting date of the appointment
ᆞDesirable expertise: Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in one or more of the following areas:
           1) Statistical physics of disordered and/or non-equilibrium many-body systems
           2) Numerical simulations of many-body systems and/or high-dimensional optimization
           3) Numerical simulations of many-body systems and/or high-dimensional optimization
           4) Correlated disorder and its applications

    • Expected starting date: September 1, 2026 at the earliest, as soon as possible thereafter
    • ᆞDuration: One year initially, with the possibility of extension for one additional year
    • ᆞApplication deadline: Applications received by July 15, 2026, will receive full consideration. Applications will continue to be reviewed until the position is filled.

    Applicants should submit:

       1) A curriculum vitae
       2) A list of publications
       3) A brief research statement of no more than three pages, excluding references
       4) Applicants should also arrange for at least two letters of recommendation to be sent directly by their referees.

The first 3 items should be merged into a single pdf file.
Applications and recommendation letters should be submitted electronically to mc9287@nyu.edu

Applications from members of historically underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged.
