Overview | Mesoscopic physics is a relatively new field of physics that emerged in the 1990s as a result of remarkable advances in nanostructure fabrication and measurement technology. The discovery of new phenomena linking the micro- and macroscopic scales, as well as the exciting phenomena of quantum mechanics, which were considered "thought experiments" in the early 20th century, have led to a quantum leap forward in mesoscopic physics. On the other hand, these leaps have been accompanied by new challenges, e.g., progress in quantum applications is on the verge of a paradigm shift. The purpose of this program is to invite experts in the field (mainly from Korea and Japan) to discuss in depth the challenges and new opportunities facing the field, and to explore collaborative research. |
